LITERATURE / ALEXANDRE DUMAS the Younger ( * ) – THREE PHOTOGRAPHS, circa 1880/1885, 2 close-up bust portraits in profile (by Pierre Petit & CH. Reutlinger, and one seated portrait facing the camera, by Pierre Petit (scratched on the reverse). All three bromide prints are mounted on card, visiting-card size (approx. 10.5 x 6.2 cm). ( * ) Alexandre DUMAS DAVY de la PAILLETERIE: born on 27 July 1824 in Paris, died in Marly-le-Roi on 27 November 1895 – Novelist and playwright, and, like his father, a successful author. Particularly well known for his novel *The Lady of the Camellias* and his plays *The Natural Son* and *A Prodigal Father* – an admirer of George Sand, he made numerous visits to Nohant and adapted her novels for the stage. Elected to the Académie Française on 29 January 1874. - A friend of Louis Pasteur and Jules Verne.
