PIERRE DENIZOT ( * ) PHOTOGRAPHER in AUTUN / SAONE & LOIRE – PHOTOGRAPH, circa 1870, albumen print mounted on card, visiting-card size 10.5 x 6.4 cm – BOURG-EN-BRESSE, poultry farmer – close-up of the lady in clogs, seated facing the camera, in traditional dress, wearing her ‘chalumeau’ headdress, displaying her dressed poultry, presented in a basket on her lap - Photograph enhanced with red watercolour on the crests. (2 tiny pinpricks). ( * ) Pierre DENIZOT: born on 14 November 1828 in Autun; died in Le Creuzot on 30 March 1897. He began his career as a lithographer in Autun, then worked in Bourg-en-Bresse. His studio was located at 52 Faubourg Saint Nicolas. He is known to have been in Bourg until July 1878. He then worked as a photographer in Paris. In 1886, he returned to Autun, where he worked as a photographer on Rue St Pancrace for 10 years. He ended his career in Le Creusot, where he died.
