Seated in the street, the corn cobs displayed in a basket on the ground – circa 1870. Albumen bromide mounted on card, visiting-card size 10.5 x 6.4 cm. – Decorated reverse. ( * ) Hippolyte Délié: born in MARCENAY / COTE D’OR on 25 May 1841, died in TARBES on 11 February 1899, active in Egypt from 1869 until 1878. He went into partnership with Emile Béchard, and their studio was called “AU JARDIN de L’ESBEKIEH” – They photographed the streets of the cities and their inhabitants, as well as Egyptian antiquities; they produced studio portraits and marketed their photocard postcards and Egyptology albums to the burgeoning tourism industry.
