THREE PHOTO-BROMIDE POSTCARDS, likely unique:
- postmarked 2 August 1910 – close-up of the team of 11 players and the coach.
- dated 6 November 1911 – close-up of the 11 players.
- captioned “P.O. Second Team 1912–1913” (correspondence dated 18 March 1913).
( * ) The OLIER Youth Club, founded in 1895 by Father Gaston Simard de Pitray, parish priest of Saint Sulpice, who placed it under the direction of Jean Jacques OLIER, was set up for disadvantaged children to provide education through holiday camps and sport. In 1909, Maurice Perrenet, a priest of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice, succeeded him and remained in the post for 70 years. Today, this ‘youth club’ is still active (on Rue d’Assas) under the name ‘PITRAY-OLIER Sports and Cultural Youth Club’.
The football section’s enduring history began in 1895 – they were French champions in 1908, winning the “Fédération Gymnastique et Sportive des Patronages de France” title and the Trophée de France. - French champions in 1910 and 1914; French Trophy winners in 1910 –
Its ranks included three players from the French national team: Henri Guerre, Ernest Tossier and Eugène Maës.
