AUTOMOBILE / TOURS – ROLLAND-PILAIN CAR ( *) An iconic brand from the Touraine region – ADVERTISING POSTCARD circa 1908 from the racing section, 2 views: - close-up shot from the rear: “the Rolland-Pilain car at the start of the 1908 Coupe des Voiturettes, winner of the regularity cup”. - RENE LEGRAIN MOTOR SLED, mounted on a Rolland-Pilain car, winner of the A.C.F. Grand Prix at the start of the Gérardmer competition. – Animated close-up of the driver and mechanic from the front. ( * ) A car manufacturer founded in 1906 in Tours by François ROLLAND, a wealthy enthusiast, and Emile PILAIN, a mechanic. The range of cars comprised two lines: competition and touring. In 1911, the company had its workshops at 44 Place Rabelais. In 1920, Joseph Sadi LECOINTRE won the speed trial on the first day of the Léon Bollée event at the Le Mans meeting. In 1921, it won the touring car prize at the Corsica Grand Prix. In 1924, the ‘two-litre’ model, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, set the 24-hour record at the Monthléry circuit and finished sixth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
