Description
PATRICE FABRE Silver (800e) band ring, stylised to resemble wire mesh, with the squares filled with concrete and set with 3 brilliant-cut diamonds in square settings. Signed P. Fabre and bearing the maker’s mark. Gross weight: 9.20 g. Ring size: 56–57. This ring forms part of the ‘Gold and Concrete’ collection, launched by Patrice Fabre in 1986. Inspired by his interest in architecture and his family’s heritage in the building trade, the designer chose to introduce concrete into jewellery – a material previously unheard of in this field. The idea was conceived during a trends seminar organised by De Beers, dedicated to new materials. Fabre then envisaged a piece of jewellery constructed like a reinforced concrete wall: concrete cast around a metal framework, then combined with precious materials such as gold and diamonds.
