Description
A small 18th-century Scribanne chest of drawers in moulded cherry wood, featuring four drawers in three rows and a drop-down panel decorated with a herringbone inlay framing a Maltese cross, which opens to reveal drawers and compartments. The lower rail is carved with a shell flanked by flowering branches, inverted hearts and scrollwork, whilst the front legs are curved and terminate in scrollwork. Undoubtedly a piece commissioned in the south-west of France. The two small vertical panels flanking the central single-door compartment are missing. 109.5 x 89.5 x 57 cm
