A small scholar’s seal made of beige soapstone with hints of rust and reddish-brown, shaped like a mountain and featuring a slightly raised design of a Luohan standing on the edge of a cliff, gazing at the moon in the sky. The base is carved with a four-character maxim meaning ‘to admire the moon whilst drinking wine’. China, circa 1900–1920. Height: 7.8 cm Length: 4.5 cm. Very slight chipping.
