Description
A Chinese porcelain baluster vase, circa 1900, with a finely glazed Qianjiang cai-style band decoration depicting a celestial landscape animated by numerous figures on the belly, a lingzhi in iron red and flower pots on the neck, and a compartmentalised band highlighted by a gilded border at the shoulder. The rim was originally gilded. Blue double-circle mark beneath the base. Height: 35 cm. A crack running from the rim down the neck for approximately 5 cm. The base has been ground down to create a notch for a plinth. With a gilded bronze plinth signed ‘Cardeilhac’ in Paris, decorated with a frieze of laurel leaves.
