Description
TERRA NOVA Expedition (1910–1913). Souvenir bracelet from the expedition, consisting of a leather strap (presumed to be pony leather) holding a circular 9-carat gold medallion (diameter 25 mm, approximate) featuring a penguin at the South Pole and engraved with “BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION TERRA NOVA R.Y.S”. Set in two engraved 9-carat gold plates with gold-plated metal lobster clasps (marked SP & S, probably for the silversmith Samuel PHILLIPS, a New Zealand silversmith). Length 25 cm.
