Description
An 18th century travel box in rosewood veneer with frieze decoration and latticework on the lid. The interior is divided into compartments and lined with crimson silk. It contains a self-serving lunch set in soft paste with chinoiserie decoration, attributed to Saint-Cloud, including a sorbet, a dish, a teapot and a covered sugar bowl. Each piece is decorated in low relief with lotus flowers or prunus branches. The teapot and sugar bowl are mounted in gilt silver. The set includes a cut crystal bottle with a gilt silver stopper, a small rectangular gilt silver tea caddy (hallmarked, 61.5 g, in ruler), and two gold (300 thousandths) and silver (400 thousandths) alloy spoons, single-flat model, each stamped with a crowned P (23.4 g).
