Description
Brass panelled basin (tâs) with chased decoration of six medallions depicting passing horsemen (dextrogyre) separated by six epigraphic cartouches in thuluth (epithets: "gloire à notre Maitre, le Roi, le très haut",...). The neck features a frieze of scrolling plant foliage over a geometric latticework. The lower part of the body is decorated with a five-row fish circle. The body was formerly inlaid with gold and black paste. Southern Iran (Fars region), second half of the 14th century. Height: 11.5 cm, width of body: 27 cm. Diameter of the neck: 19.5cm.
