Remarkable first copy on Japon Impérial (N°23), including a suite in black of the engravings, the suite of the 5 plates refused on China paper and an original sketch signed by Sylvain Sauvage, perfectly established by Louis Yseux in a charming Art Deco binding.

Large in-8 (170x260 mm), wine lees morocco, framed with black and gilt fillets forming roundels of varying size at the corners, long gilt title on smooth spine, gilt fillet on part of the edges, midnight blue calf lining in gilt framing, blue silk endpapers, double endpapers of garnet and black marbled paper, gilt edges on witnesses, covers and spine, slipcase (Yseux, successor of Simier).
108 pages, 21 colour copper-engraved compositions by Sylvain Sauvage, including one frontispiece.
Slight rubbing to spine.
Charming edition published by the artist Sylvain SAUVAGE (1888-1948), who illustrated it with 22 copper-engraved compositions in colour in collaboration with Haasen.
Limited edition of 150 numbered copies on Japon Impérial à la forme, this being one of the 35 first copies (N°23), containing a suite in black of the engravings and the suite of the 5 plates refused on China paper as well as an original coloured sketch signed by Sylvain Sauvage.
An admirable copy signed by Louis Yseux, one of the most talented bookbinders of the early 20th century.
