A charming evocation of live entertainment during the Belle Époque, illustrated with over 140 drawings by Ibels. A copy preserved in a Carayon binding with an original pen-and-ink drawing on the spine.

In-8 volume (207 x 138), bound in Bradel style in glazed green half calf, smooth spine decorated with title, date and a beautiful composition executed in black pen. Volume entirely untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (binding signed Carayon).

First edition. One of 100 copies on China paper (n° 61), printed for M. L. Conquet.
A fine collection of 4 texts on café-concert, the gestures of song, circuses and fairground entertainers, written respectively by Georges Montorgueil, Maurice Lefèvre, André Ibels and Georges d'Esparbès. It is illustrated with colour compositions on the cover and more than 140 full-page black figures in the text by Henri-Gabriel IBELS (1867-1936).
Provenance: from the library of André Barrier (Paris 1870 - 1957) with his etched bookplate. President of the Court of Appeal and a great bibliophile, André Barrier was president of the Cent Bibliophiles and a member of several other bibliophilic societies.
A very fine copy preserved with the beautiful covers and generous margins in a binding decorated with an original pen-and-ink drawing.
