Bound in cherry half-maroquin with corners, spine with five raised bands, author and title stamped in gold, gilt head, covers and spine preserved, margins untrimmed. Binding signed Gruel. 367 pages. A small tear in the spine of the binding. First edition, copy on current paper after 100 copies on Hollande. Mont-Oriol is a novel by Maupassant which describes, with irony and lucidity, the birth of a spa in Auvergne and the social comedy of money, desire and ambition that accompanies it.
