A remarkable copy enriched with two original lithographs signed by Jacques Villon, in a splendid mosaic binding by Lucie Weill. Paris, Scripta et Picta, 1953. In-folio (290x380 mm), red grosgrain morocco, smooth spine decorated with gilt title throughout, boards decorated with a large mosaic composition in multicoloured morocco (violet, green, water green, yellow ochre, orange) in a cold decoration of multiple parallel or squared fillets, inner border in the same morocco with the signature "Lucie Weill", orange suede lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, covers and spine preserved, half morocco band folder, lined slipcase (Lucie Weill). XXX and 126 pages, 25 original compositions by the painter Jacques Villon (24 in colour and one in black), including 20 double-page colour lithographs. First edition of Paul Valéry's translation set against the Latin text, illustrated with 25 original compositions by the painter Jacques Villon (1875-1963), including 20 double-page lithographs in colour. The artist drew the images on coloured stone, engraving each colour on a different stone in his own hand, using a total of 320 different stones. Limited edition of 269 copies, this being one of 245 on Vélin d'Arches (No. 100). A precious copy with two original lithographs signed by Jacques Villon, corresponding to the illustration on page XXX, one in black (N°21/25) and one in colour (N°22/25).
