Description
[MUSIC] [JAZZ] [MUSIC-HALL]. Jazz. The music-hall magazine. Very rare head of collection of this Années Folles magazine devoted to Music-Hall; a goldmine of art deco aesthetics. Paris, 1927-1928. 20 vol. in-folio (320x240mm), stapled, in laced cardboard folder. Some creasing to corners and rubbing but overall very good condition. There are many photos of shows and dancers, gossip, programmes, advertisements, frousfrous... We are often in the purest art deco, both from a typographical point of view (swoon-worthy font) and in the compositions included; photographs, illustrations, etc. Names that have now been lost mingle with those of celebrities who have stood the test of time: Minstinguett, Paul Colin, Josephine Baker, Foujita... Reviews of the Folies Bergères, Moulin Rouge, Casino de Paris, Marigny, etc. A note pasted into the folder reads: "Complete collection before Louis Querelle editions transformed and expanded the formula under the direction of Titayna and Carlo Rim from December 1928 for 17 issues". Provenance: - Jacques Crépineau (ex-libris).
