MAUPASSANT (Guy de). Miss Harriet. A fine copy bound by Gruel of this collection of twelve short stories, the eponymous piece of which was dedicated to Maupassant's muse: the Countess Potocka. Paris, Victor-Havard, 1884. One volume in-12 (185 x 123 mm). Bound in cherry half-maroquin with corners, spine with five raised bands, author and title stamped in gold, gilt head, covers and spine preserved, margins untrimmed. Binding signed Gruel. 348 pages. Slight rubbing to spine and corners. First edition. Copy on satin vellum, after 50 on Hollande. The collection also contains: L'Héritage, Denis, L'Âne, Idylle, La Ficelle, Garçon un bock, Le Baptême, Regret, Mon oncle Jules, En Voyage, and La Mère sauvage. The set is set in a high-quality binding by Léon Gruel. A fine copy, very fresh and clean.
