Also enclosed: 1/ An original 21x21cm square copperplate corresponding to the illustrated frame on p.63 of Volume I; 2/ An original drawing signed in pencil by Frans de Geetere depicting a nude couple embracing and obviously not in the etching state, perhaps an unused drawing; 3/ A signed artist's proof in colour of the frontispiece.
Flemish engraver and writer Frans de Geetere (1895-1968) studied at the Brussels School of Fine Arts. After living in Utrecht, he moved to Paris with his partner May den Engelsen. They lived on a barge near the Quai Conti. Erotic engraving was the couple's favourite field.
