ARNOUX (Alexandre) and FRÉLAUT (Jean). The Accompanied Walker. Copper engravings and drawings by Jean Frélaut. Remarkable mosaic binding by Michel Moura, containing one of 10 numbered copies on Arches vellum (N°4), with a suite of copper engravings in two states, a suite of woodcuts in colour and an original watercolour drawing by Jean Frélaut. Paris, Texte Prétextes, 1948. In-4 (235x280 mm), green morocco, four-ribbed spine decorated with gilt and cold-stamped fillets, top cover decorated with a large mosaic composition showing Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral in blue fillets, the Pont-Neuf in red fillets, the whole surmounted by a decoration of mosaic flowers formed of pieces of white, red and lemon morocco, interior cold roulette, gilt head on witnesses, untrimmed, covers preserved, in green half morocco flap folder with green velvet lining, matching slipcase (Moura). 133 pages, 20 compositions by Jean Frélaut, including 10 black copper engravings hors-texte and 10 colour drawings in the text, wood-engraved by Daragnès. Spine of dust jacket a little faded, minor rubbing to slipcase. First edition of this dreamy stroll through the streets of Paris, illustrated with 10 original etchings and 10 colour drawings by the painter, engraver and illustrator Jean Frélaut (1879-1954), wood-engraved by Daragnès. Limited edition of 251 copies, this being one of 10 numbered copies on Arches wove paper (No. 4), including a suite of copperplates in two states, a suite of woodcuts in colour and an original watercolour drawing by the artist. The copperplates are signed in pencil by Frélaut, the coloured woodcuts signed in pencil by Frélaut and Daragnès. An admirable copy in mosaic morocco, perfectly produced by the Lyon bookbinder Michel Moura.
