Paris, Société des Amis du Livre, 1910. 2 volumes in 1 in-4 volume (190x270 mm), Lavallière morocco, first cover decorated with a large Art Nouveau-inspired mosaic frame of intersecting mauve morocco listels with garlands of blue flowers in the corners, medallion at the head of the cover decorated with a mosaic landscape in multicoloured morocco, grey morocco lyre at the foot of the decoration, gilt and mosaic wreath of flowers in the centre of the second plate, decorated ribbed spine with repetition of the decoration, large inner frame in Lavallière morocco with mauve listels and mosaic of blue flowers, lining and endpapers in parma tabis, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine for both volumes, edged slipcase (Ch. Lanoë). 129 and 169 pages, 17 compositions by Henri Guinier engraved with etching and burin by C. Coppier, including a frontispiece for each volume, 7 hors-texte for the Méditations and 8 hors-texte for the Nouvelles méditations, title ornaments and wood-engraved lettrines by Paillard after Séguy. Beautiful edition of Lamartine's famous collection published by Paul Villeboeuf, decorated with 17 black compositions by the painter Henri Guinier (1867-1927) engraved with etching and burin by C. Coppier. Limited edition of 100 copies for members on Vellum, this one No. 17, printed for M. Manchon. Copy complete with the list of members (2 bound endpapers of each part).
