First edition of this pioneering work of ethnology applied to African arts and rituals. Devoted to the Dogon culture, this study includes an important introduction followed by the transcription of several myths and ceremonies as well as masks, accessories and associated art. It is illustrated with black and red compositions in the text and 32 plates of black photographic reproductions at the end of the volume.
