In-4 (210x280 mm), brown morocco, ribbed spine filleted and framed in cold, triple gilt fillet framing the entrenerfs and the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, inner border in the same morocco as the boards and signed "R.D. Klein" in the leather, marbled paper lining and endpapers, gilt edges, covers and spine preserved (Klein).
224 pages and 4 ff.n.ch. (subscription prospectus), 114 original woodcuts by Paul-Emile Colin, printed in black, including 7 hors-texte, and 90 woodcut vignettes, lettering and decorative bands in colour. Running title in red, text in Greek with French translation opposite.
Very slight rubbing to spines and corners.
First edition of Paul Mazon's translation, presented alongside the Greek text, decorated with 114 original woodcuts by Paul-Emile Colin, printed in black, including 7 hors-texte, and 90 vignettes, lettering and decorative woodcuts in colour. This book by Anatole France is a collection of extracts from various works, mainly La Vie littéraire and Le Jardin d'Épicure. It is the last work published by Édouard Pelletan.
