A very fine copy on Vergé containing one state of the etchings by Édouard Chimot and enriched with 33 additional states, in a luxurious morocco signed by Georges Canape. Paris, Le livre du Bibliophile, 1920. In-4 (200x280 mm), ebony morocco, threaded ribbed spine, double gilt fillets intertwining in a gilt frame at the entrenerfs, triple gilt frame on the covers, double gilt fillet on the edges, wide inner border in the same morocco set with a decoration of triple gilt frames punctuated with rosettes at the corners, signature "Canape R.D. in leather", wine-red moiré silk lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, covers and spine preserved (Canape R.D., 1927) 166 pages, 35 compositions by Édouard Chimot, including 12 original colour etchings hors-texte and 23 pencil drawings in vignettes and culs-de-lampe. Slight white marks on the leather. First illustrated edition of this collection by the writer and poet Maurice Magre (1877-1941), decorated with 35 compositions by Édouard Chimot (1880-1959), depicting young women, often nude, including 12 coloured etchings, scratched after printing, and 23 vignettes in black. Limited edition of 590 numbered copies, this being one of 500 copies on Vergé d'Arches à la forme paper, containing a state of the etchings (N°330). An abundantly enriched copy with 33 additional states, including nine scratched plates (two on Japon) and numerous trial proofs in black and in colour. Beautiful binding by Georges Canape (1864-1940).
