A splendid copy in mosaic morocco by Emile Carayon, printed on Chine (N°17) with a suite of woodcuts, most of them signed by Henri Zo, and enriched with 2 autograph letters signed. Paris, A. Girard, 1906. Small in-4 (180x260 mm), copper morocco, spine ribbed, underlined by a gold fillet and framed in cold, triple gilt fillet with a yellow ochre morocco listel at the entrenerfs, rich gilt framing on the boards decorated with a pearled fillet and gilt fleurons and mosaics in yellow ochre on a red morocco band, Red moire linings and endpapers, the linings edged with a wide band of copper morocco in a rich frame of gilt fillets and dotted lines, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Carayon). 72 pages, 29 illustrations in the text by Henri Zo, including 5 full-page woodcuts by Gasperini, Piselli and Ciavari. Minor rubbing to edges of slipcase. Charming edition with 29 original illustrations by the painter and illustrator Henri-Achille Zo, wood-engraved by Gasperini, Piselli and Ciavari. Unique edition limited to 135 copies, this one of 10 copies on Chine with a suite of woodcuts (N°17). Most of the plates are signed by the artist and marked Bon à tirer. The copy is also enriched with 2 signed autograph letters addressed to Girard, Éditeur-Mécène, one from the author in which he mentions his work, and the other from Léon Hennique, evoking "the shady publisher R***" and the Cigarette, "pleasant news, the illustration of which is far from displeasing (to him)".
