The text by Françoise Mallet-Joris was carefully printed in "Romain du Roi" type on the presses of the Imprimerie Nationale, under the direction of Georges Bonnin. The original lithographs were printed on the Mourlot presses in Paris, under the supervision of publisher Robert Mouret, a major figure in twentieth-century art publishing. Limited edition of 220 copies, this one of 100 on Vélin d'Arches (No. 5), bearing the artist's signature on the justification. Our copy is enriched by 3 full-page suites (540x740 mm), including a suite of 5 double-page lithographs on Japon nacré, a suite of 15 lithographs on Vélin d'Arches and a suite of 11 lithographs (out of 15) on Vélin Richard de Bas. All the lithographs are signed by the artist. This copy also features a felt-tip drawing by the artist on the false title, accompanied by a signed autograph letter: "Pour Monsieur et Madame Korsec / Amicalement / Hilaire". A charming evocation of the world of the circus, adorned with dazzling lithographs by Camille Hilaire, somewhere between post-cubism and figuration.
