A rare first copy of Kipling's masterpiece, illustrated by Roger Reboussin and elegantly bound in Durvand morocco. Paris, Librairie Ch. Delagrave, s.d. (ca 1930). Two volumes in-4 ( 290 x 245 mm & 305 x 245 mm). Full blue morocco, spine ribbed with title, gilt head, double fillet on the edges, covers and spine preserved, margins untrimmed. Binding signed Durvand. 2 ff.n.c., 162 pp. 1f.n.c., 7 pl. 197 pp. 8 pl. Minor wear and tear. First printing of this remarkable edition, profusely illustrated by the animal painter Roger Reboussin (1881-1965) with more than 200 compositions in the text and 15 hors-texte plates (7 for the first volume and 8 for the second). A rare copy of the first edition, limited to just 80 numbered copies. This one is No. 43, printed specially for Mr and Mrs Pierre Lebaudy (the first volume on Arches vellum and the second on Hollande paper). A fine, fresh and clean copy.
