An elegant copy of the first edition on Japon (N°5), with a suite of illustrations by Pierre Laprade in black, perfectly established by Semet and Plumelle.

In-folio (250x330 mm), fawn grosgrain morocco, smooth spine decorated with gilt flowers and gilt lettering, gilt bouquet of flowers in the centre of the boards, band of the same morocco set with two gold fillets and signed by the bookbinder (Semet & Plumelle) on the edge of the back covers, brown nubuck lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, covers and spine preserved, in a lined slipcase (Semet & Plumelle).
96 pages, 38 colour compositions by Pierre Laprade engraved with etching and aquatint by R.Lacourière, including one frontispiece, a title vignette, and numerous headpieces, in-text and end-papers.
Spine very slightly faded.
