Famous and monumental edition decorated with 122 figures by François-Louis Schmied, wood-engraved and gouache-stencilled, of which 72 full-page and one double-page map. Set in four superb Art Deco bindings by Trinckvel. Paris, Compagnie des Bibliophiles de l'automobile-club de France, 1930-1933. 4 vol. in-4 (295 x 253 mm), red morocco, boards decorated with a mosaic geometric design consisting of rectangles of white, gold and black morocco, decorated with single, double and multiple intersecting gilt fillets, the spine in the same style, front board and endpapers of cardboard with gold wavy decoration, bordered slipcases. Gold printed parchment covers and spine preserved (binding signed Trinckvel). 115pp, 169pp, 175pp, 163pp. Spines very slightly shaded. Splendid book illustrated by François Louis Schmied. Limited edition of 145 numbered copies, all on vellum, this one no. 78. "The preciousness of this gorgeous set of volumes is given by both subtle and impressive means.
