Exceptional file on Sacha Guitry compiled by Jacques Crépineau (1932-2017), containing among other things a love poem handwritten and signed by the artist, accompanied by 3 original photos of the couple.
This poem, most likely written after his imprisonment in 1944, was addressed to his last wife, Geneviève de Séréville, and combines memories of real imprisonment with memories of voluntary love: "One year! A whole year! And how right I was to flee from prison to be chained in the collar of your two arms...". - and he finishes - "...and with a kiss you set me free."
Circa 1944.
Folio (330 x 250 mm). Letter on double sheet, old pearly paper, with a central fold, prepared with 3 photos mounted on wove paper, cover with a sticker decorated with a reproduction of Guitry's signature, tricolour ribbon.
