An interesting example of an Alsatian Liber amicorum from the 1830s that belonged to Eléonore [Grosz - née Gauckler?], decorated with illuminated plates and original graphite drawings.
[Strasbourg 1831-1837].
Oblong in-12 volume (110 x 176 mm), loose leaves in a book-shaped slipcase in flamed havana basane, wide framing lace on the boards, red morocco escutcheon of the title "A l'amitié" mosaic on the first board, smooth spine decorated, gilt edges. Case.

Interesting album composed of 36 texts in verse and prose written by several hands in French and Alsatian by relatives and friends of Eléonore. 18 are accompanied by an illuminated engraving plate or a black drawing. The vast majority are signed and dated. They include the names of Charlotte Hallez, Salomé Rech, Caroline Reche, Fanny de Wissembourg, Elise Grosz, Daniel Kruger (Cousin), etc.
From a note on a free sheet Eleonore Grosz (Strasbourg 1817 - Strasbourg 1840), mother of Eléonore Heydenreich (Strasbourg 1838 - Paris 1891).
Provenance: on the front cover "given by Aunt Anne Gauckler (4-11-1941 to Lisette le Renard Herren Schmidt. Belonged to Eléonore Gaukler née".
