BARBIER (Georges). Falbalas and Fanfreluches. Emblematic work of the fashion of the Roaring Twenties, illustrated with 60 magnificent hors-texte plates. Paris: Meynial, 1922-1926. Five in-4 booklets (284 x 200 mm). In sheets, with illustrated covers. Housed in a fine modern mauve half-maroquin slipcase, spine muted, interior lined with water-green suede. 55 pp, [60] plates. Some light browning to the edges of the covers of the issues published between 1923 and 1925. First edition. Unique edition on Arches vellum. Complete collection of the five years of this famous "Almanach des modes présentes, passées et futures". Each issue includes a text followed by a calendar, as well as 15 superb compositions by George BARBIER (1882-1932), including one on the cover, one on the title, one at the head of the text, the only one in black, and 12 stencil-coloured hors-texte. The texts are by the Countess de Noailles (Lettre à Georges Barbier sur les modes, 1922), Colette (Modes, 1923), Cécile Sorel (Glorifions la coquetterie, 1924), Gérard d'Houville (Falbalas et Fanfreluches, 1925) and the Baroness de Brimont (Le Songe d'Ève, 1925). A rare copy, perfectly preserved in a luxury slipcase.
