Spines uniformly sunned, a little warped. Slight wear to corners and headpieces. Interior a little yellowed, some very rare foxing.
First edition on plain paper. Each volume includes, on the title page, a signed letter from Émile Zola to Albert Sorel (1842-1906). A major historian of the Revolution and the Empire, academician and co-founder of the École libre des sciences politiques, Sorel was a central figure in French intellectual life at the time.
