Some rubbing to title-pieces otherwise excellent overall condition. "Fifth edition", universally recognised as the best and most complete. one of fifty copies on Chine, the only large paper with 50 copies on japon. This vade mecum of the bibliophile contains, faithfully to its title, almost all the knowledge necessary for the book lover, whether beginner or experienced. Organised into chapters, it covers everything from the history of books to their conservation, including the study of papers, bindings, the choice of editions, bibliography, vignettes, typography and even - O EXOTISM! - reading (which, as we all know, is perfectly useless for most collections). Its provenance is irreproachable, coming as it does from the library of André Barrier, twice President of the Court of Paris and a member of the "Cent bibliophiles" society - which is what interests us here. Provenance : - Marcelle Léonardon (bookplate) - André Barrier (bookplate)
