A notary’s cabinet known as a ‘Cartonnier’, made of mahogany veneer, comprising four red storage boxes that open from the front. Chiselled gilded bronze fittings with applied decoration featuring cherubs and a beehive with bees; lion’s paw feet; keyhole surrounds with cornucopia motifs. The right-hand side panel pivots to act as a clasp. First half of the 19th century.
