Xavier de Poret was a French painter, illustrator and portraitist, born in Dinan in 1894 and who died in Chambéry in 1975, in Savoie. Renowned for his animal drawings, as well as his portraits of society figures, military personnel and equestrian subjects, he notably produced portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and her children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. He also created several illustrations for Hermès handkerchiefs.
