Serge DEMARCHI (1934–2026). The Fantasy, a mask from the Venice Carnival. Oil on canvas, signed lower left and titled on the reverse. 81 x 100 cm Provenance: the artist’s home and studio. Serge Demarchi (1934–2026), a painter from Aix-en-Provence who was born in Chambéry, developed a figurative body of work sensitive to light and atmosphere. His landscapes of Venice, carnival scenes and subdued interiors are imbued with a poetic melancholy. His work has been exhibited notably at the Musée Faure in Aix-les-Bains and the Espace Malraux in Chambéry.
