Serge DEMARCHI (1934–2026). ‘Mutine’, wide-brimmed hat, portrait of a woman wearing a hat. Oil on canvas, signed lower left and titled on the reverse. 74 x 60 cm Provenance: the artist’s home and studio. Serge Demarchi (1934–2026), a painter from Aix-en-Provence born in Chambéry, developed a figurative body of work sensitive to light and atmosphere. His landscapes of Venice, carnival scenes and hushed interiors are imbued with a poetic melancholy. His work has been exhibited notably at the Musée Faure in Aix-les-Bains and at the Espace Malraux in Chambéry.
