Serge Demarchi (1934–2026), a painter from Aix-en-Provence born in Chambéry, developed a figurative body of work characterised by its sensitivity to light and atmosphere. His landscapes of Venice, carnival scenes and subdued interiors are imbued with a poetic melancholy.
