Large copper dish decorated with a scene from the Battle of Tunis; bears the inscription EXPEDITIO ET VICTORIA AFRICANA CAROLI V ROM IMP.P.F.AVGVSTO 1535.
19th century. This is a reproduction of the so-called ‘Charles V’ basin and ewer, commemorating the Battle of Tunis; the set was originally crafted in silver in Antwerp in 1558–1559 and is now housed in the Louvre Museum (Mr 341 – Mr 351), Ø62 cm
