Silver wax seal case, plain-sided design, with the base and lid edged with mouldings; hinged lid. Hallmarks of the Fermiers Généraux of FRANCHE-COMTÉ, 18th century. Jurisdiction of Besançon. DOLE, c. 1782. Master silversmith: Jean-Antoine SENARD, admitted to the guild in Lons-le-Saunier in 1773, moved to Dole in 1782. Height: 4.3 cm. Weight: 28g. The silversmith’s hallmark is reproduced in the reference work *Les orfèvres de Franche-Comté* by Solange BRAULT-LERCH, plate VII.
