Description
A pair of armchairs in moulded, carved and gilded wood, with a medallion-shaped backrest topped with roses and ribbons, resting on four tapered, fluted legs, the front legs featuring a rudenté finish. Upholstered with 18th-century tapestries from the Beauvais Manufactory. The backrests are decorated with a gallant scene: one depicting a woman carrying a basket, the other a gentleman playing the pipe, set within medallions encircled by a frieze of laurel leaves, flowers and a knotted ribbon. The seats are decorated with animals within cartouches. Floral upholstery from the Napoleon III period adorns the armrests and side panels. Crafted in the Louis XVI style during the Napoleon III period. (Dimensions: 99 x 53 x 71 cm – Seat height: 47 cm) (some slight loss of gilding, wear to the trim, particularly on the seats)
