Description
A large clock featuring Athena’s chariot, crafted from chiselled and gilded bronze, depicting the chariot drawn by Diomedes’ two horses, carrying Athena, draped in a cloak and wearing a helmet, with her shield bearing the mask of Apollo, a quiver, arrows and a crown.
Movement with an enamelled dial in the wheel, signed: ‘Comminges, Palais Royal No. 62, Paris’.
It rests on a plinth depicting a scene of celebration and abundance.
Original gilding (worn), with its pendulum and wire-driven movement
