AEROPHILATELY – FIRST FLIGHT TO SAINT PIERRE & MIQUELON: FRANCE via the USA or CANADA – Registered letter to Montreal bearing a Saint Pierre & Miquelon date stamp dated 31 August 1948. - Fine franking comprising 5 stamps from Saint Pierre, a French colony, including in particular 3 commemorative stamps from the 1937 Paris International Exhibition. Red overprints of the framed linear St Pierre & Miquelon postmark + large special illustrated framed postmark commemorating the flight, 35 x 54 mm: “First airmail service 31 August 1948, St Pierre and Miquelon * USA / CANADA / FRANCE” – on the reverse: arrived in Montreal on 2 September + censorship mark.
