FRANCE 1940–44 – “ETAT FRANCAIS” – Letter to GENEVA posted from Paris. Postage of 4 francs paid with 3 Philippe Pétain stamps (1 red 1F stamp by Hourriez + 2x brown 1F50 stamps by Piel – As these stamps had not been postmarked, they were cancelled with a large black four-pointed star (the cancellation stamp used by the chief postmen responsible for monitoring mail) – Bearing the German censorship mark, an eagle stamp, from the Wehrmacht commandos.
