PHILATELY – ERINNOPHILIA – AIR FRANCE PROPAGANDA BOOKLET, 1948. Promotional booklet given to passengers, containing a block of four perforated stamps which “passengers can only affix to the back of envelopes” – lilac-pink SIX-ENGINE SEAPLANE. Stamps bearing the Air France seahorse, engraved and printed by the Engraving Institute. “Under a palm tree, a woman from Martinique looks at a Latécoère 631 seaplane parked near the beach”. This stamp commemorates the airline’s flagship aircraft (the Mermoz aircraft), which held the record for the longest commercial flight of its time from Fort Étienne to Fort-de-France – a non-stop journey of 4,700 kilometres.
