ERINNOPHILIE 1960 – UNESCO GIFT STAMPS. Extremely rare complete booklet of 80 perforated ( * ) GIFT STAMPS in 8 sheets of ten with margins, in cover - Blue 25c ‘mariner’s knot’ stamps. ‘These commemorative stamps may not be used for posting letters. Their sale will provide the funds necessary.../..for the universal development of education...’ Printed in Switzerland. ( * ) 1 March 1951 – To help disadvantaged schools, UNESCO has created a new form of international ‘currency’: aid stamps. Every child in the world can now help their fellow pupils in less privileged countries. All they need to do is contribute towards the purchase of a solidarity stamp, which groups of children or adults can send to the schools of their choice.
