LUSSEAU Jean-Pierre (1940–2018), Portraits XXII, Chalk and graphite on paper, Framed under glass, signed and dated 2008 in the bottom right-hand corner, titled on the reverse 23x21cm (water stains on the mat only) Provenance: from the artist’s studio collection Joint exhibition from 20 to 26 October 2017 at the Maison du patrimoine with the photographer Nadine Comba Evolving from a figurative style strongly influenced by the 19th-century masters and their perfect compositions to an abstract style heavily influenced by the 1950s (De Staël, Jackson Pollock), he combines action painting with colourful figuration, ranging from landscapes to female nudes. Very active during the 1980s and 1990s, he draws inspiration from the legacy of Pop Art artists and American culture (Basquiat, Warhol, etc.)
