CHINA (19th century). A pair of multi-lobed porcelain soup plates with a wide rim on one side serving as a handle, decorated with scholars and cartouches of ideograms, centred around a small scene depicting a young girl studying at a desk. 4.5 x 26 x 24 cm. In good condition apart from very slight wear to the gilding. Also included is a slightly flared celadon porcelain bowl with a crackled finish, decorated with a lattice pattern and flowers within cartouches, 19th-century. 8 x 22 cm. Cracks and very fine chipping.
