LYRE-SHAPED SKELETON CLOCK, 18th CENTURY
A finely chiselled and gilded bronze clock resting on an oval white marble base.
Decorated with acanthus leaves, trimmings, eagle heads, garlands of pearls and bouquets of flowers.
The circular, ring-shaped dial features Arabic numerals indicating the hours and minutes. It is signed ‘Piolaine à Paris’, a clockmaker active at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The piece is displayed under a glass dome with its plinth.
Dimensions: approx. 56 x 27 cm.
As seen; has undergone standard restoration; the lamella-type movement has been restored.
